"The 2022 Tusk Cabernet Sauvignon is a commanding yet finely balanced expression of Napa Valley terroir, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship and elegance. The nose opens with a seductive bouquet of ripe plum and lush Amarena cherry, layered seamlessly with exotic spices, cardamom, clove, and a hint of anise, that deepen the aromatic complexity. On the palate, this wine is richly textured and boldly structured. Powerful, mouthcoating tannins provide a dense yet polished framework, while a core of dark fruit is lifted by vibrant mouthwatering acidity, bringing great freshness and drive. Notes of cedar and dried thyme weave through the mid-palate, adding savory nuance and further dimension. The finish is long, persistent, and layered, echoing spice, fruit, and a subtle earthiness that
speaks to its aging potential."

"The 2021 vintage in Napa Valley resulted in smaller berries and smaller yields but with deep concentration, and beautiful freshness & acidity. The wine, with its well-integrated tannins, is classically powerful and textural without being heavy. Red & black fruits dominate with subtle accents of cardamom, chocolate, cedar, and pine making for a beautiful wine. The 2021 vintage embodies the classic purity, silkiness & focus you can expect from Tusk Estates. This is a wine showing well now but will continue to age beautifully for years to come."

"Even if this is difficult to imagine, Tusk is gaining in dimension, texture and depth every year. The 2019 is full of complex aromas of violets, lavender, warm crushed rocks, ripe raspberries and plum. Velvety tannins, full bodied with balanced acid, hints of cocoa powder on a long-lasting finish over a minute. The wine shows so well the power of the ripe grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon and its complexity aromatically and structurally. As all the previous Tusk vintages, it will age for decades and we are recommending decanting hours prior to consumption."

"Alluring, ripe and fragrant, the nose crescendos from freshly sliced vanilla pods and lilac beds into a bevy of rich red and black fruits. In turn raspberry, black cherry, strawberry, blackberry and huckleberry are all present, yet with this cornucopia there is no overcrowding, as if one fruit continuously shifts into another, mercurial and whimsical. Following in are earthy notes of espresso, cocoa nib, and wet tobacco, that promise strength and beautiful integration. The mouthfeel has great harmony where all the ingredients are there to deliver a modern wine style with ripe fruits and an overwhelmingly long finish. The wine is so textural yet extremely vibrant and the blockbuster tannins are surprisingly perfectly integrated at such a young age."

"The 2017 Tusk is an absolute must for your cellar. Despite all odds, this is proof that the classic rules of great vintages no longer exist. The season was intensely hot, so making Tusk in 2017 had an extra set of challenges. Nevertheless, opening a bottle was just beyond satisfying. Intense aromatics of lavender, cassis, coffee, sweet tobacco, ripe currant extract, spiced plum and candied orange rind explode from the glass. The mouthfeel strikes on all cylinders, powerful with a mineral background giving an extra dimension and finishing with a sense of pure satisfaction."

Plum, raspberry, and wet tobacco leaf dominate the powerful nose, filled in with accents of freshly brewed coffee grounds and toasted hazelnut. The 2015 vintage is characterized by tension, and Tusk is an exemplar. Cola and stony mint eddy and swirl, as vibrant red fruits walk a tightrope down the palate, flexing and pulsing as they go. Philippe and his team have created a dark pool of memories as each preceding vintage of Tusk resides in the 2015, coalescing and surging, and then receding as the wine takes its own unique form. True quality, continually honed by the passage of time.

2014 Tusk is an example of the best the 2014 vintage has to offer. It has classic, sweet, and ripe fruit characteristics. The nose is dark and purple, but the palate is red and light on its feet. Loaded with finesse and subtle notes of gunpowder and quince, the structure is powerful for its size and reminiscent of the great super Tuscan wines. Slow moving, like an underground river, the wine is always denser than its weight, with a fascinating progression on the palate, offering glimpses of a stunning future, and leading into a mesmerizing finish that caresses the senses.

— Philippe Melka
Following the challenges of the 2011 vintage, the quality and ease of 2012 were a welcome respite from hard winemaking decisions at every point of the vintage. Drought conditions in winter and spring brought early bud break continuing with a warm but not hot vintage. October started with higher temperatures and then ended with 4 days of rain starting the 22nd of October. These conditions led to small berries and thick skins, with higher acidity, leading to well structured wines with tremendous potential for aging. The key to the vinification was balancing acid, tannin, and alcohol along with beautiful floral characteristics tied to the small berry size. The resulting 2012 is broad shouldered, powerful, slowly unraveling over time to reveal a deep essence of a slow beating vintage, with Tusk’s trademark power and elegance.

"The tannins are spiraled around the wine in a very charismatic way, fresh and juicy, but with dominant power, taking the mind to the hills of Piedmont."
— Philippe Melka
In a Bordeaux year, the 2011 Tusk displays the major components of California style. Throughout the growing season, the sun was able to develop layers of complexity in the fruit resulting in great concentration of flavor and rich ripeness. The 2011 portrays the feminine side of wine with a wonderful sweetness and ripeness from the fruit, along with great acidity which will aid in the aging process. Following a sweet entry are layers of spices, concentrated red fruit, ripe, powerful tannins, as well as some leathery notes. There is great delineation with the perception of the wine revealing an unctuous quality on the palate and beautiful texture.
